BUILDING ACCESS
The Institute is located on the 5th floor of the Commonwealth Tower on the corner of Wilson Boulevard and Fort Myer Drive in the Rosslyn section of Arlington. Visitors must take the elevators to the 5th floor and go to suite 525 and ring the doorbell. CI staff will then let you into the suite.
AIR TRAVEL
National Airport (DCA) is the most convenient (and frequently the most expensive) of the three airports serving the area. A taxi from the airport to the Institute or a nearby hotel is $15-$20 and takes about 20 minutes.
Dulles Airport (IAD) is somewhat less convenient. A taxi costs $60-$70 and takes about 50 minutes. Dulles also provides frequent bus service to the West Falls Church Metro. There is less frequent Metro bus service which goes directly to Rosslyn and is cheaper.
Baltimore-Washington Airport (BWI) is the least convenient DC area airport. A taxi costs about $80 and takes about 1 ½ hour. BWI also has shuttle and train service to Union Station in Washington, DC.
METRO-TRAIN SYSTEM
Washington has a convenient, clean and safe subway-train system. Travelers from National Airport can take the Blue Line (train sign - Addison Road) at National Airport to the Rosslyn Station. Do not take the Yellow line.
Travelers from Dulles Airport can take a bus to West Falls Church Station. Then take the Orange Line at West Falls Church (train sign - New Carrollton) to the Rosslyn Station.
Travelers from Union Station take the Red Line (train sign – Grosvenor or Shady Grove) to Metro Center. At Metro Center, you need to switch to the Orange or the Blue Line (whichever arrives first) (train sign – Franconia -Springfield (Blue) or Vienna (Orange)) to the Rosslyn Station.
At the Rosslyn Station, you must exit up the escalators (from DC, there are two stories). At the exit fare card area, use the exits on the left. Upon exiting the gate, make an immediate u-turn to your right and walk up the steps to the street (Fort Myer Drive). Make a left and go to the intersection (Fort Myer Drive and Wilson Boulevard). The Commonwealth Tower is diagonally opposite where you are.
AMTRAK
Train service to Washington's Union Station is convenient for those arriving from short distances. A taxi from Union Station to the Institute takes about 35 minutes and costs $15-$20.

CARS
Car rental in the DC area is not recommended. However, in the Rosslyn area, it is less inconvenient than in downtown DC.
If you are driving, get a map and locate Rosslyn – Fort Myer Drive and Wilson Boulevard. Detailed travel directions are suggested. Interstate 66 has rush hour restrictions preventing the use of single passenger vehicles unless coming from or going to Dulles Airport. In addition, DC’s High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes on Interstate 95 also impose rush hour restrictions preventing the use of single passenger vehicles.
PARKING
There are numerous parking garages within close proximity to CI offices—including a public parking garage in the building. There is also metered street parking, which has limited availability.
TAXI SERVICE RATES
In Virginia (except at National Airport to the District), the taxis are metered.
